Bonaire is experiencing rapid growth. Water and electricity demand have been increasing at least 5% per year in the last 8 to 10 years. I’ve been with the company 7 years and we have managed to keep up with supply while new laws and regulatory structures as well as innovations have been introduced. While growth is not showing any signs of slowing down we are now at the beginning of new technological and organizational restructures.
The demand for electricity is increasingly influenced by so many factors. While the client has a better ability to become more energy independent other factors like electrical vehicles, IOT and development like electric flights are increasing demand. It is our goal and challenge to work close with our partners like BIA to provide the energy needed in the most green and sustainable way to sustain further developments.

The Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) is organizing the 1stInternational Sustainable Air Transportation event called “A Flight To The Future” in Aruba in November 2022. A one-week event filled with presentations, panel discussion, masterclasses and test flight demonstrations with the Pipistrel Velis Electro, the first certified electric aircraft, all with the purpose of sharing knowledge, creating dialogue on the future of aviation and on interisland connectivity in the Dutch Caribbean.
