Malinda Hassell is the Director of Tourism at the Saba Tourist Bureau. Born in Aruba, Malinda conveys an extensive 14+ years background involving the intricacies of innovative marketing, developing distribution strategies, and generating market demand for different destinations. She has a degree in Tourism Management & Consultancy from the Breda University of Applied Sciences.
Prior to becoming the appointed Director of Tourism, Malinda performed as the Marketing Manager and Interim Director at the Tourism Corporation Bonaire. She proactively led the marketing team, enhanced marketing strategies, and strengthened dynamic business relationships. Her next lateral move consisted of becoming the Communications Manager at the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association, an experience that sharpened her knowledge in PR & communications and the tourism industry from a private sector perspective. In 2020 Malinda moved to Dominica and became the Destination Marketing Manager at Discover Dominica Authority, overseeing all aspects of marketing, along with leading several representative teams within various countries. With a passion for destination marketing, tourism board processes, and Small Island Developing States in mid-2021 Malinda took the challenge and moved to the Unspoiled Queen of the Caribbean the island of Saba, an island of her roots, to become the Director of the Tourist Bureau.
The Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) is organizing the 1stInternational Sustainable Air Transportation event called “A Flight To The Future” in Aruba in November 2022. A one-week event filled with presentations, panel discussion, masterclasses and test flight demonstrations with the Pipistrel Velis Electro, the first certified electric aircraft, all with the purpose of sharing knowledge, creating dialogue on the future of aviation and on interisland connectivity in the Dutch Caribbean.
