Maarten v/d Scheer
Maarten van der Scheer (MSc BA) has been in the aviation industry since 2007. In various strategic roles with Royal Schiphol Group, he worked with many stakeholders on the future development of Schiphol Airport. Management positions in Operations and Procurement were followed by an overseas role at the airport of Seoul, S-Korea.
As a former board member of an aviation research consortium, he is always keen on innovation and smart solutions for difficult problems. Since mid-2022, Maarten started as CEO of Bonaire International Airport N.V., the operator of Flamingo Airport. Safety, Sustainability and Service are his main priorities. “For many Bonaire residents, Flamingo Airport is a gateway to the region and the rest of the world. It brings economic and social benefits to the island. That’s why we want to stimulate frequent, affordable, and sustainable connections between the ABC-islands and the region.”

The Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) is organizing the 1stInternational Sustainable Air Transportation event called “A Flight To The Future” in Aruba in November 2022. A one-week event filled with presentations, panel discussion, masterclasses and test flight demonstrations with the Pipistrel Velis Electro, the first certified electric aircraft, all with the purpose of sharing knowledge, creating dialogue on the future of aviation and on interisland connectivity in the Dutch Caribbean.
